Many years ago, as we were late and hustling to get out of my brother’s house to attend a friend’s wedding for which I had volunteered to make 300-plus cupcakes in three different flavors—chocolate, carrot, and lemon, natch—our Swedish friend Martina, my brother’s girlfriend at the time, shook her head in good-natured exasperation and called me a word in Swedish that sounded like a mouthful of vowels and that I could only assume was a terrible insult.
I love reframing the annoying action (being late) as the occasional negative externality of such a positive and adorable trait. It's a reminder that so many “disrespectful” behaviors can be done with people with the most well meaning intentions and it's (probably) best to assume them. At least, the world will feel like a better place if you do :)
The best!!! Esp the green and orange penises hahahaaaaha
whoopsies!! LOL

Yes, so true! Benefit of the doubt--so great in theory, so hard to put into practice. Thank you for reading!
Love this!! I didn’t know this was an actual term but the shoe definitely fits! 😂
Such a better term than chronically late, LOL.
